This past Sunday a program was presented on San Onofre Nuclear Waste Generating Station (SONWGS), featuring urban planner Torgen Johnson, …..and Tom English who sang:

What part of Fukushima don’t you understand?

Take a quick look at the kind of News releases
from all over the world in only the past several days. . .

Top story: Fukushima, Japan

Collapse of spent fuel storage pool at Fukushima Daiichi could be worse than initial accident, says new report..
    * A collapse of the already tilting reactor No 4 building at the stricken Fukushima Daiichi plant, ¬atop which sits a spent nuclear fuel storage pool containing 1,535 fuel assemblies – including 204 unused ones – would lead to a “significant global impact,”- by far topping last year’s triple meltdown at the plant, a new report says Charles Digges, 03/07-2012. And noting that there are regular earthquakes of substantial impact happening.

Among the latest Updates:

Are we preparing ourselves
to stand up together against government, it’s regulatory commission and the Nuclear Power industry?
Nothing less will begin to change all this!

Lots of radiation is still coming to the US west coast from Fukushima Daiichi, from the Pacific Ocean and the atmosphere. It’s hard to get information- http://www.opednews.com/articles/Media-Silent-on-Fukushima-by-Brian-Lynch-130108-588.html

We recently learned that the cleanup is just spreading radioactivity.

Nuclear power and press freedom

The Japan Times
Feb 10, 2013

Japan fell from 22nd place to 53rd in the rankings of press freedom last year, according to the nonprofit organization Reporters Without Borders. Japan’s plummet was attributed to a single factor – the lack of access to information related to the disaster at Tokyo Electric Power Co.’s Fukushima No. 1 nuclear power plant.

DPS says Entergy is not to be trusted
BRATTLEBORO — Entergy is not to be trusted and should not be given permission to continue its operation of Vermont Yankee nuclear power plant in Vernon.

“Entergy’s assertion that it ‘has not strayed from’ its commitment in the 2002 (sales order) to seek a CPG for continued operation beyond March 21, 2012 is simply false,” wrote Commons. “Entergy did not commit merely to seek a CPG for continued operation … it committed not to operate (Yankee) … unless it sought and received a renewed CPG.”

Wind Power!

“Aha!” “What worries me is if we continue to build an excessive amount of wind and subsidize wind, the unintended consequence could be that it leads to shutting down plants,” said one official.

<http://www.chicagotribune.com/business/ct-biz-0208-exelon-div–20130208,0,2015410.story?dssReturn> the Chicago Tribune, adding that states which have subsidized wind power might see jobs disappear if nuclear plants shut down.

Tax credits for wind keep turbines running at times when there is no demand for power which drives down the price that Exelon charges for nuclear power, meaning that in wind heavy states the company pays customers to take their power.

It would be a folly to think that there is no hope

Learning to speak knowledgeably and to the point
in this atmosphere of Madness!

Dr. Caldicott , widely known spokesperson for the antinuclear movement was recently asked about the consequences of an accident at San Onofre. After noting that the data is already published in her books, she provided a graphic description:

“It depends if it’s like Chernobyl — high in the air — or like Fukushima — close to the ground. Many will suffer from acute radiation illness: Hair falling out, diarrhea, blood system breaking down. There are eight million people within a 50 mile radius of that plant. Many may die in the first two weeks following a release, depending on the size of the release. Following the acute deaths, there will be a large increase in complications to the immune system — children are particularly vulnerable. Within five years you’ll see a large increase in childhood cancer, and thyroid problems in children, as we’ve seen in Chernobyl and Fukushima. 15 years later, large increases in cancers of the bodily organs, also babies born with very severe deformities, and spontaneous abortions. Increases in cataracts. Premature aging of children and everyone else, increases in diabetes, heart attacks…” her voice drifts off, the list is too long to name them all.

“The land will be radioactive for hundreds of thousands of years, the food grown will be radioactive, so people will be eating radioactive food for thousands of years. The accident never ends, it’s ongoing, there will be an increase in malignancies, and genetic disease, as the genes in the eggs and sperm are mutated, and those abnormalities are passed on for generations.”

Are we preparing ourselves?
Can we stand up together against government, it’s regulatory commission and the Nuclear Power industry?
Nothing else will do!
Highest of government authorities and those tied to their jobs and its kind of “security” need to hear from all of us!

Living With This Modern Day “Black Plague

October 7, 2011 1 comment
                                               June 30th, 11′

From Hiroshima to Fukushima:
Living With This Modern Day ‘Black Plague

We won’t begin to help this Crisis of World Cancers,
until we’ve dried up Its sources!

Update June’ Livermore Lab
This is not news of a recent ‘fire’ near Lawrence Livermore Lab. Rather it’s foremost and should always be about (nuclear industries everywhere) with their radioactive contaminations and it’s promised effects upon its workers and neighbors, then the rise of those myriads of caring support groups coming to their aid across the world. This Livermore story translates right now into current beryllium exposures to lab employees and Tri-valley’s CARE chronic beryllium disease prevention program.

What’s coming down hard, yet still seems beneath the radar is how cancer has brought on years of campaigns against radiation, chemical toxins, vendettas against cigarettes, all the marches, runs and other benefits for, with virtually thousands of service groups, research institutes, groups monitoring industries to protect our health and related human resources on cancer totalling nationwide and internationally, while poisoning industries go right on!

Many struggling to end this disease call it our. . .
                     “War Against Cancer!”

Science may eventually discover some cure, meanwhile we’ve never looked directly at the worst of its sources, as if to end these assaults on life.

Report 6/27 Japan Times
Fukushima residents’ urine now radioactive More than 3 millisieverts of radiation has been measured in the urine of 15 Fukushima residents of the village of Litate and the town of Kawamata, confirming internal radiation exposure. People of Japan are now demanding protection for their children from radiation.

Simultaneously in Japan:
A NHK video of public indoctrination (standard US/IAEA) agenda makes claims there will be no real dangers to the public from fallout, or more to the point, saying: “Worrying about radiation is actually worse than the radiationThey say that! In the meantime, don’t eat anything.

We’ve lived with nuclear radiations ever since those first bombings of our enemies and then atmospheric testings with cancers climbing off any charts ever kept before. Nukes for Peace were sold to us as a ‘clean’ industry, while radiation effects went right on climbing, skirting the clamor of advocates struggling alone to end it. But not now!

Long ago when faced with such extremes as this, our world literally turned itself upside down in acting to end those terrible afflictions. Most certainly we’re faced with just such a modern day black plague. Isn’t that what it is? Nuclear power radiations and those other terrible toxins have raided, impoverished and demoralized communities worldwide.

It’s not just war against cancer
it’s War Against Nuclear Power’
     and any life threatening products!

In our new age world of marketing it’s been about how we could ‘believe’. . and leaving our safety and precious health in the hands of these industries, all leading to hundreds of millions suffering from cancers. Those industries have scientists with researches attempting to justify all this, while their management tells us that to end it would be detrimental to productions. and Government gives its almost undivided support to nuclear power. But It’s always brought on radiation cancer sicknesses, fatalities and the unimaginable losses and upheavals to people everywhere.

New polls show a huge global shift opposing nuclear power. We are now seeing a whole new round of PR (Marching orders for new safety) by the IAEA and many countries. But all this is so terribly late in face of proven, fatally flawed practices and a product that’s killing us!

82% of all Japanese want the entire nuclear reactor fleet shut down! whereas before Fukushima it was 62% in favor. (Gallup Intl. Poll).

Remember the award winning movie, Erin Brocovich, based upon the true case of PG&E in California desert regions. They actually began by selling their neighbor customers on the health benefits of chromium in their lives and company doctors provided free checkups to assure them of how their many ailments popping up, had nothing to do with chromium found in their water. PG&E finally paid, but this industry goes right on producing their cancerous products,. which assure more tragedies.

Report: *Kauai* Hawaii June 22nd,
Our network’s *Monitoring Station* on the island of, within the Hawaiian island chain, broadcasting another *Radiation Alert* over the Network, at 8:08 A.M. local time – a 3 minute surge of *209, 456, and 186 CPM* (Counts per Minute) respectively, accompanied by a generally elevated level leading up to that and followed by another blip at 2:52 P.M..

There are still some 30 to 40% of Americans who are staunch supporters of nuclear power, according to polls.

For more than 50 years, the cigarette industry claimed
smoking did not cause lung cancer.
A half-century was wasted debating that point!

A record 1.33 million cases of Non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma rates have more than tripled since the 1950s, and some children’s cancers have increased 30% in the last 30 years alone. American women are suffering increases for two major kinds of cancer. Women are more vulnerable than men.
‘New War on Cancer’ : Against All Causes EXPLORE, July 2005,
(see sources below)

We best remember the nuke age began in 1943.
Rate of cancers not associated with smoking
were higher for people born after 1940

Because of those like Dr. Rosalie Bertell we know far more of radiations other effects:
These are rarely, if ever counted among cancer victim:
This is only a partial list of non-cancer health effects
brought on by human exposure to radiation:
Downs Syndrome
Hydrocephaly
Microhydrocephaly
Cleft Lip and Palate
Epilepsy
Kidney and Liver Damage
Thyroid Disease
Low Birthweight
Increased Infant Mortality
Increased Stillbirth
Genetic Mutations/Chromosomal Aberrations
Spinal Defects
Congenital Malformations

Dr. Bertell’s book “No Immediate Danger”: Prognosis for a Radioactive Earth (revised 2001) reveals how the nuclear industry massively underestimates the real cost to human health and hides the victims with restrictive definitions of radiation-caused illnesses.

Remembering . . . children are naturally free of toxins.
Protestations to the side, ‘ most cancers don’t result from genes.
In today’s world, every single person is vulnerable, especially children, whose body systems change on a regular basis.
because they drink, breathe,
and eat far more than an adult, pound for pound.

It’s no longer known as our ‘clean energy’, because now, most everyone is aware of how radiation lives right here among us all, or they should know! The worst ever is ahead, because such diseases take time to develop in bodies, but regardless,

This is our best moment for reckoning with this hideous plague,
our best chances first, to stop nuclear power.
It’s always been about this suffering in global proportions, but a growing majority of us knowing far more now.

No Compromise!
We Must End Nuclear Power Now!
“Getting to the source!”

Welcome to the blog for the Humboldt chapter of End Nuclear Power Now

September 22, 2011 2 comments

Welcome to the blog for the Humboldt chapter of End Nuclear Power Now.
As the Fukushima nuclear disaster continues to unfold, citizens around the world stand up to say “Never Again!”

Here in Humboldt Co. we host one decommissioning nuclear power plant which contains high level nuclear waste, in dry casks, stored in a tsunami hazard zone. We also recognize that 104 operating nuclear power plants still in operation represent a serious threat to all of us. Even thousands of miles from the site of the Japanese nuclear disaster, radioactive fallout has been detected on the West Coast of the U.S. The Chernobyl nuclear disaster resulted in over one million deaths due to cancer and birth defects. The Fukushima disaster has already surpassed Chernobyl in terms of radiation released, and will surely eclipse Chernobyl in death and disease as well. We cannot allow anything like this to happen in the U.S.

We know that nuclear reactors in the U.S. are approaching, or have already exceeded their designed lifespan. However, the NRC (Nuclear Regulatory Commission) routinely re-licenses aging reactors with serious safety defects.

Even in routine operation nuclear power plants in the U.S. release large quantities of dangerous radioactive materials into the communities that host these facilities. The legacy of cancer, disease and birth defects caused by nuclear power in the U.S. is well documented. We say “No More Sacrifice Zones”
